hummer x
As a Fabrication Designer on the GMC Hummer X concept program, I collaborated with designers and engineers to develop manufacturable vehicle systems through an iterative design-build-test process. I contributed to early chassis theme development, using chassis architecture and fabrication constraints to help shape the vehicle's exterior design direction while ensuring proposed forms could be realized through sheet metal manufacturing methods. I also developed a latch mechanism for a removable gear-carrying rail, creating mechanism architecture, CAD models, functional animations, and numerous digital and physical prototypes to validate performance and usability. Through successive CNC-machined and 3D-printed iterations, I refined the design and fabricated custom mechanism components to support testing and integration. Additionally, I developed and validated a removable hood system using a full-scale wooden mule, evaluating a four-bar linkage hinge and over-center gas spring architecture for ergonomics, serviceability, packaging, and operational performance.
